DANGEROUS TOYS

The creative home of writer Rob Flavin

I find everyday life funny, provided one ignores bereavements, disasters, and local footpath disputes. I write character-led comedy about ordinary people whose lives have become slightly less ordinary than they'd planned. Based in Devon, I've spent much of my working life in communications, while writing screenplays, a novel, and various untried stand-up routines.

I recently completed an MA in Comedy Writing at Falmouth. I'm too modest to mention the distinction.

My current projects are Black Horse Down, about an ex-MI6 officer whose failing village pub becomes Britain's most rural safe house, and Auction Man, about a former deputy head who believes buying and selling at auction could be his answer to everything.

I like stories filled with optimism that involve good characters, bad decisions, misplaced confidence, and the occasional moment when, against all reasonable expectations, everything works out fine.
